Hot Pick'n and Finger Lick'n!
Old Crow Medicine Show is an old-time musical band based out of Nashville TN and also happens to be a pretty kick ass blue-grass influenced ensamble. The band’s two most recent albums, “OCMS” (2004) and “Big Iron World” (2006), are distinctively unique from one another. If you have the chance to see these characters live you we can assure you that you and your friends won’t be disappointed. Take a look at one of their earlier videos posted on here on YouTube. The song is “Wagon Wheel”, and the tongue and cheek nature of the short is a derivative of the bounty of personality each member of the band brings to the table. Rudd-Tastic!
It has recently come to the attention of the TheTrebleClef.com that Australian singer songwriter Xavier Rudd will be traveling to Chicago for a show on January 22nd, 2008. Simply put, the man is talented. His music is soft and socially conscious in nature. Xavier has armed himself with competent finger-licks for his guitar, a voice similar to one Paul Simon, and an overall stage presence that is inescapably authentic. Don’t be surprised if you hear him incorporate a didgeridoo or harmonica from time to time. Unfortunately, on occasion, his tunes can be a touch flighty. What else would you expect from someone who categorized as a Folk/Acoustic/Indie artist? Nonetheless, Mr. Rudd is one of those solo guys who sounds so full that you become convinced that he’s backed by multiple band members, but the fact is they just aren’t there... Check him out yourself this coming January at the Vic Theater.
